Uwe was never the loud type. As a former sommelier, he preferred to let his wines do the talking. In the 1990s, he swapped his service jacket for a vine cutter and began to reinterpret the Blaufränkisch from the Eisenberg – sparse, purist, profound. Uwe was one of the first to focus on origin rather than technique. And he was heard.
But even great winegrowers are not spared setbacks. After severe weather events and economic turbulence, things became quiet around him. Too quiet. But true passion knows no retreat – it seeks new paths.
With incredible tenacity, he has managed to buy back some of his celebrated 2021 wines – including the legendary Reihburg Blaufränkisch and his Merlot with its strong character. It is a comeback that means far more than just a few bottles of wine. It is a sign of courage and an unwavering commitment to quality.
